In light of the recent advice being given by health officials regarding the Coronavirus and minimising the risks of transmission, I would just like to echo the information given by the Government and also Wigan Life Centre swimming pool.
I would firstly like to stress our primary concern is our children/swimmers, parents/guardians and also our staff, whilst I would like to emphasise we are by no means trying to cause any distress or panic, I just think it necessary to give some guidance from our clubs stance as a responsible registered community sports club. Our swimming sessions will continue until further advice is given from health officials. Please could I ask that you check the club website and Facebook/Twitter account on a daily basis for any updates regarding cancelled sessions.
If I could ask if any of our members or parents/guardians are showing any symptoms of Covid19 then please follow the Government guidelines regarding self isolation, do not attend any of the swimming sessions.
Whilst the sessions are continuing, could I stress the swimming pools advice of washing and showering prior to entering the pool and also at the end of the session. Also if any parents or guardians attend the pool, if i could ask that they follow the guidance regarding washing hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds prior to entering the pool. Please ensure that your children bring their own water bottle and do not share either water or any food/sweets prior to, during or following the session.
As a result of the above, there will be potential for a number cancelled galas and leagues, again please keep up to date on our website and Facebook/Twitter account. All future Micro-League fixtures have been postponed until further notice.
If anyone has any concerns, views or would like any further information please contact me on chair@wiganswimmingclub.org.uk.
