Burnley Bobcats will be holding a last chance county qualifier Gala on Friday 6th January to Sunday 8th January 2023 at Darwen Leisure Centre.
We will only be accepting entries from swimmers who already have a county time or are close to achieving one.
Please beware that the Wigan Long Distance and Development Meets will take place on Sunday 8th January. These galas will be for swimmers who may still be at the start of their racing journey or for swimmers who have their county times and would like to try some of the longer distance races. More information will be posted about these in the upcoming days.
If a swimmer is only chasing times for events that are races of 200m and above we ask that you enter the Wigan Distance meet with more details being published in the next few days.
With the above paragraph in mind we will not be attending the Friday session over in Darwen.
To take part in this gala a swimmer has to be 9 years old or over at midnight on the 8th January 2023. Whatever age the swimmer is at midnight on the 8th January 2023 is the age they will race as. The age groups for this gala are 9/10/11/12/13/14/ and 15 & over.
Please note for this gala swimmers must be 11 and over to enter the 400m IM and 400m Free.
Below you will find attachments including the terms and conditions, the programme for this gala and the consideration times. Please read all of these VERY CAREFULLY.
When entering this gala please make sure to enter a time for each event. If the swimmer does not have an official time you can use time trial times or ask one of the coaches at training for a time. Please beware if this gala is over subscribed swimmers with estimated times or unofficial times will likely be rejected first.
Also when looking at the consideration times please beware that swimmers MUST BE FASTER THAN THE LOWER QUALIFYING TIME BUT SLOWER THAN THE UPPER QUALIFYING TIME to enter that race.
Entries for this gala are now open and will close at midday on Friday 2nd December 2022. The reason for this is that the gala organiser has made it a first come first served gala and by having the entries complete I will be able to send them across as soon as entries open. As this is a new gala and the last chance swimmers will have to hit a county time in the lower distance events we have no idea how busy it will be. We therefore don’t want to risk swimmers missing out!
Each race will cost £7!
