The Club Championships are finally upon us and take place this Sunday 7th July 2024 at the Wigan Life Centre.
This will take place of all normal training sessions.
We have planned an action packed fun filled day with both the adults race and SKINS event returning and of course all the racing action as well.
On the day there will be prizes handed out to swimmers by Andy and the coaching team if they see swimmers who have improved their strokes, listened at training, or if they just have a great attitude on poolside.
As previously mentioned all our swimmers will receive a medal for taking part. As well as that swimmers finishing in the top 3 places in each age group in each event will also win an extra medal and of course we have the Club records which if broken will earn our swimmers a cash prize.
All of these awards will be handed out at the club presentation evening which will take place on Friday 13th September at St. Peters Pavilion in Hindley.
We would just like to point out that on Sunday whilst racing the swimmers age will be determined by how old they will be on the 31st December 2024 to keep in line with previous Club Champs and to preserve the integrity of the Club records.
We also have the SKINS event taking place. Again as previously mentioned to qualify for this event a swimmer will have needed to have competed in the 200IM. At the moment we are finalising the rules for this year’s SKINS! It is important to point out that a swimmer does not have to take part if they do not wish to do so. Further details and all the rules will be explained on the weekend.
On the day we are asking for a £3 entry fee for spectators. We would ask that this is paid with cash. We will also be running a raffle, which has some great prizes a strip of tickets will cost £1 again if these can be bought with cash.
On Sunday please make sure swimmers are on poolside NO LATER than 12 Noon. Also for anyone who has put their name forward for the adults race we ask that you are also on poolside and ready to swim for 12 Noon before the race takes place you will have time for a little warmup.
We are aiming for the following in regards to times on Sunday:
- Swimmers and adult swimmers arrive on poolside no later than 12 Noon
- Adults race 12.10
- Warmups 12.15 to 12.35
- Racing starts 12.40
As always we ask that our swimmers wear CLUB hats (if worn) and CLUB t-shirts whilst on poolside.
As always we suggest that a couple of towels are brought, as well as appropriate footwear, snacks/lunch for throughout the day and please make sure your swimmer has plenty of fluids to drink.
Please make sure that any snacks that are brought around the pool DO NOT contain any Nuts thank you!
*In the original email regarding Club Champs we stated that swimmers could not take part in more than 4 events with the expectation of anyone who qualifies for SKINS. There are a number of swimmers who have entered more than 4 events.
To make it fair to all swimmers we ask that any swimmer who is entered into more than 4 events send me an email as soon as possible letting me know which events to withdraw the swimmer from to make a maximum of 4 events.
