Over the last month I have been searching and enquiring about what galas will be taking place during the 2nd half of 2024. I am now in a position to be able to give you a good idea of the galas we will be attending over the next 6 months.
It is important to point out that swimmers are NOT required to attend all galas and you can ask a coach which galas they believe will be best for your swimmer!!!!!!
Please bear in mind that this list could change and I ask that you keep checking the club notice board at the pool as well as all of our social media platforms for any updates or changes.
Below you will find a list of internal and external galas that we are aiming to attend with a brief description of each gala.
Club Time Trials.
Sunday 8th September 2024.
Wigan Life Centre
A great chance for our swimmers to prepare for the new season of galas and it is also a very important tool for our coaches as they get to see how our swimmers are progressing. We hope to see as many of our club members there as possible!!!

Wigan & Tyldesley Starter Meet 2024.
Saturday + Sunday 21st and 22nd September 2024
Held at the Wigan Life Centre!
The first gala of the new racing season. A level 3 gala held at our home pool and is good for all swimmers who will be 9 and over on Sunday 22nd September 2024.
The gala has moved to a new spot in the calendar and provides an opportunity for all swimmers to get their new racing season off to a great start.
This year the gala will also include the 400m events for swimmers aged 12 and over!
All club members who are part of Wigan BEST are asked to enter this gala through Wigan Swimming Club as was mentioned in the email yesterday sent out by Wigan BEST outlining their plans for the 2nd half of the year.

WIGAN BEST Future Stars Level 2 Meet.
This gala is held over the weekend of Friday 18th to Sunday 20th October 2024 at the Wigan Life Centre!
To enter this gala swimmers will have had to hit set qualifying times for all races at licenced gala’s!
This gala is predominantly aimed at Wigan BEST squad swimmers although some club swimmers may have achieved the qualifying times!
We ask all Wigan Best members to enter this gala through Wigan BEST!

Co Salford Potential Olympian Halloween Meet 2024
Saturday + Sunday 26th and 27th October 2024
Held at Broughton Leisure Centre
Entries now CLOSED!!!!
Blackpool Lights 2024
Saturday + Sunday 16th and 17th November 2024
Held at Palatine Leisure Centre, Blackpool!
Once again a level 3 gala available to club swimmers aged 9 and over as of Sunday 17th November 2024.

Bolton Christmas Counties Countdown 2024
Saturday 8th December and Sunday 9th December 2024
Held at the Jason Kenny Centre, Bolton!
This is a level 3 gala and is available to club swimmers aged 9 and over as of Midnight Sunday 8th December 2024.
This gala has all events available to race, however swimmers need to be aged 10 and over to take part in the 800 and 1500m events!
