The club has very sad to hear unexpected news that Keith Bewley had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, on Sunday 15th January.

Haydn Rigby who after forming the original Wigan Wasps in 1972 looked for full time coach to take the squad to the next level.

“In 1973 Keith was appointed chief coach to newly formed Wigan Wasps. Determined to produce world class swimmers, he was the driving force that rocketed the club to the top of British swimming. His first international success was the selection of Ann Osgerby to the English team competing in the 1978 commonwealth games. His immense coaching talent allowed him to produce many more international swimmers and in 1980 five members of Wigan Wasps were selected for the British team competing in Moscow, June Croft, Ann and Janet Osgerby, Steve Poulter and Martin Smith. Over the 33 years he spent in Wigan Keith, in addition to the phenomenal swimming success, which brought Olympic and commonwealth medals, he gained tremendous respect and affection from all who worked with him. He will be sadly missed as a coach and a friend. Haydn Rigby”

TheĀ funeral is to be held on Monday 6th February2017 4:15pm Thornhill Crematorium Cardiff CF14 9UA
