This Sunday 1st of March we see a number of our swimmers head to Sheffield and compete at Ponds Forge!!!!

Hopefully this post will answer any questions that you might have.

On the draft programme it states warmups will start at 7.55am with racing starting at 9am.

Therefore we would ask that swimmers meet in the Foyer/Reception between 7.40 and 7.45am. This is where our coaches and team managers will meet you. It looks as if it will be the girls warming up first but this will be confirmed on the day.

At the moment we believe that the afternoon warmup will begin at 12.55 with a 2pm race start time.

Spectator tickets will be available on the door and both cash and card payments will be accepted. Adults will be charged £8 and concessions ( Over 65’s & Under 16’s) will be charged £4.

Below you will find attached the draft programme for the day. There is no link to the live results just yet but we will make sure to post this on Facebook and other social sites once its available.

As always we suggest that swimmers bring the following:

  1. Plenty of food and snacks to keep energised throughout the day
  2. Plenty of liquid to stay hydrated
  3. A couple of towels
  4. Club T shirt and Club hat should be worn if possible
  5. Adequate footwear for moving around the building especially when heading down to poolside from the stands
  6. Clothes to keep warm between races. The poolhall is unpredictable in regard to temperature it all depends if they have the air con on!!!!

The teams are based in one side of the stands at Ponds Forge so generally there is no need for camping chairs.

The pool itself has a cafe that serves both hot and cold food as well as hot and cold drinks all throughout the day although it can be pretty pricey.

The pool is situated right on the edge of the city centre and no more than a 2-3 min walk you will start to find shops like B&M, Poundland, Lidl  where you can stock up on any extras you need which can be taken into the pool hall. (Please try to avoid nuts) You will also find food outlets there too.

Sheffield have suggested that you use Castlegate Q parking for your cars. This is the closest car park to the pool but there are cheaper.

The pool operator generally stop swim gala cars from parking on the Ponds Forge car park to keep it available for locals to use the rest of the facilities at the venue unless you have a blue badge in which case you will be able to free of charge. (Make sure to register your car at reception if you do)

Pond Street which runs next to Ponds Forge is also free of charge if you have a blue badge.

A cheap alternative to possibly look at is NCP Blonk Street which is around an 8 min walk away but will only cost around £6 for the day.
