There have been a few misunderstanding recently regarding photography, so thought I would put post out as gently reminder, as phones with camera and social media become so ingrained in life it hard to separate the two.
First of all polices regarding photography can vary from venue to venue so please take note of safety announcements and notices, some venues and local councils do not allow any photography in their venues, some have exceptions for events or certain areas.
If you are unsure of the policy at a particular venue, assume that it is not allowed until you are informed otherwise, ignorance to the rules in not an excuse.
Inspiring healthy lifestyles who operate the Wigan Life Centre have strict policy in place regarding devices with image capturing facility, in summary they must not be used in the changing facilities, poolside, spectators gallery during public sessions or the immediate area overlooking the pool.
As the club shares the pool on the majority of sessions with either the public or another organisation any video, zoom or close range photography is strictly prohibited.
When the Wigan Life Centre is booked for private event, there is no public present and at the discretion of the promoter or organiser of that event, they may allow the use of video, zoom or close range photography, this will be detailed in the safety announcement or conditions of the event / meet.
It is really not a good idea for swimmers to have phones or other devices on the pool side whether it is allowed or not, speaking from personal experience it can become quite costly when they take a dip. If swimmers do have mobile phones they must be placed in secure section of there bag, you can get waterproof pockets for them. Leaving bags or other items on the poolside is at the swimmers risk the club and / or the venue takes no responsibility for these items.
Swimmers must not at any time use their mobile phones within the changing facilities or on the poolside during training, it is strictly forbidden and Inspiring healthy lifestyles has policies in place to deal with anyone who chooses to ignore this instruction.
