The Club Championships make their return on Sunday 5th July 2026 at the Wigan Life Centre.
The Club Championships takes the same format as previous years and more details are provided in this post.
All swimmers competing in the Club Championships will receive a medal as well as extra medals for finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each age group. These will be handed out at the club presentation evening! More details to follow!
Also up for grabs is the chance to break some club records and get your name on the records table.
Just like last year there will be money up for grabs for club records that are broken. If an event has no record then a reduced prize will be awarded.
We will also be running an adults race after the success of previous years. We are hoping to get back to at least 2 heats like we had for this race a couple of years ago. The race will be 50m freestyle. Everyone loved it last year so please come and have a go. If you would like to take part please email meets@wiganswimmingclub.org.uk with your name there is no charge for this event!
Also this year we will run the skins events once again.
WHAT IS A SKINS EVENT?
A SKINS event is an exciting series of back-to-back races which operate on a knockout basis, with the two remaining swimmers racing each other in a head-to-head final race.
We are still ironing out the final details for the SKINS but I can tell you there will be cash prizes up for grabs in this event as well.
PLEASE NOTE Swimmers wishing to enter the skins competition must compete in the 200IM to qualify. Once the results of the 200IM have been finalised swimmers will be invited to take part in the SKINS event.
Swimmers will be tired if they compete in the SKINS event. Please bear that in mind for event choices!
SKINS are a fantastic event that always provide unrivalled excitement! This has been showcased in previous years when the boys final finished in a tie!
Please ensure you look at the order of events and pick events allowing adequate rest between each race. We ask that a swimmer takes part in NO more than 4 events. If invited to take part in SKINS this will not count as one of your four events!
The Club Championships will be unlicensed although it will follow the same procedures as a normal gala.

Event Conditions
50m races – All age groups.
100m + 200m races – Swimmers 9 years and over.
The swimmers age will be classed as whatever age they will be on the 31st December 2026. This is to stay in line with the Club records!
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO ADD A TIME FOR EACH ENTERED EVENT! IF YOUR SWIMMER HASNT TAKEN PART IN AN EVENT BEFORE AND THEY ARE ENTERING IT PLEASE GET AN ESTIMATED TIME FROM ONE OF THE COACHES. ENTRIES WITH NO TIMES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP WITH THIS MATTER!!!!

*IMPORTANT INFO* As some of you will know there is an on going issue with the entry system and it not showing a confirmation page or even showing an error page when completing the process of adding entries. Whilst we try to fix this we ask that you use the entry system as normal! PLEASE ONLY TRY TO ENTER YOUR ENTRIES ONCE! Events cost £3.00 each.
We will need as much help as possible from parents of swimmers competing particularly newer swimmers who are going to be with the club for a while. We really need new volunteers to keep the club moving forward and allow the swimmers as many opportunities as possible!!!
