Hi everyone we hope you are all well! As you may or may not know we are a community club and the club can only survive if we have volunteers.
We have asked on a number of occasions if any parents would like to step forward and help the club continue to move forward. We would like to thank those people who have expressed an interest in doing so, however this still leaves us very short.
As a club we are always seeing our swimmers move on to Wigan BEST and we are very proud of this and them. When this happens we need new parents to step up and help out at the club because the parents who may be helping now cant be in two places at once with their child moving into squad
To put it simply the club needs YOU!
There are many different roles that you as parents can help out with. These include:
Team Managers:
The role of a team manager is to support the team coaches during galas/team events to make sure they run smoothly and ensure that the swimmers are kept safe and happy.
Committee Member:
Committee members are responsible for making club decisions for the good of the club and its future.
All committee roles at the club are voluntary. To get started within one of these roles you will first have a discussion with Barry the club chairman who will explain the different roles available. Hopefully one will suit you and we will welcome you to the committee.
Officials:
An official is a trained volunteer who supports the running of a gala allowing times achieved by swimmers to be recognised and placed onto the swimming rankings.
These are the men and women on poolside who judge the swimmers whilst racing is taking place. There are many different roles as an official starting as a timekeeper behind the blocks and then making your way through the different levels of officiating.
At the club we are lucky to have a handful of officials all of whom have been officiating at the County Championships, which is great to see, but at the moment the number of officials across the North West is very low and needs to be improved.
As a club one of our main streams of income is from running our own galas. To do this we need as many home grown officials as possible then we don’t have to relay on others.
Some of the officials have been kind enough to put together a guide on how easy it is to start entering the world of officiating. This is attached below!!!
If you are an ex swimmer or a parent who would like to help out in any of the above positions then please come forward. We as a club can only run training sessions, galas etc with a lot of help and support.

We are currently looking to meet with parents from each group to gauge interest, and also to support you to help the club. More information on this to follow.
