Firstly we would like to thank everyone who has showed interest and entered our 2nd one day Summer Sizzler.
We never could have imagined the level of interest we have had in the Summer Sizzler and ultimately it has proven to be that popular that we have had to close entries early.
The last few days have been difficult trying to make it possible to accept all of the entries we received.
However unfortunately we just haven’t be able to find a way to accommodate all of them. This is for a number of reasons including the length of the gala and space on poolside.
We would therefore like to send an apology to anyone that this may cause upset too.
The way rejections have worked is explained below.
We had to suspend entries last week to check if we had space to allow more entries into the gala. If we received your or your swimmer’s entries after this time, unfortunately these have been rejected and can be seen below in the attachment Summer Sizzler 2025 rejections Page 1!
Once this was completed we stilled needed to shave some time off session 1. Again after looking at a number of different scenarios we decided the best course of action would be to limit the female 200m freestyle to 5 complete heats.
Therefore if your swimmer was seeded in heats 1 or 2 sadly they have been rejected from this event. All of the information on which swimmers this concerns is once again below in Summer Sizzler 2025 rejections Page 2.
We hope by giving you an idea behind the reasoning it will make things a little easier to understand and explain.
If you are due a refund please email treasurer@wiganswimmingclub.org.uk with your swimmer’s name and bank details and we will get the refund back to you as soon as possible.
The third attachment below are the accepted entries for Summer Sizzler! Please take the time to have a look through them and if you spot any mistakes please email meets@wiganswimmingclub.org.uk no later than 12 Noon on Monday 28th April 2025!
