The Burnley Monster Splash gala takes place the Saturday 28th October and Sunday 29th October 2023 at Darwen Leisure Centre.

As is procedure at Darwen all of the clubs and swimmers will be situated within the sports hall at the Leisure Centre.

A tip for anyone who has not been to Darwen before the car park is not very big, so it may be worth getting there a little earlier than normal to grab a parking spot.

I have attached below the warmup times for each session this weekend as well as the gala brief which has lots of useful information on it. PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ THESE!!!

Please take note of each warmup time and make sure swimmers are in the sports hall at least 15 minutes before the start of the warmup so they are ready to be taken down to the pool when its warmup time.

As a reminder we suggest that swimmers bring a couple of towels with them, plenty food and lots of drinks to keep hydrated, footwear for when they are moving around the building, club t shirt and club swim hat (if worn).

Due to being in the sports hall we recommend some warm clothing for in-between races ( thick socks, oodies, hats etc) adequate footwear (sliders, crocs etc) for moving around the building and something comfy to sit on whilst in the sports hall (camping chairs, exercise mats etc)

Also as a reminder the 50m races this weekend will have finals at the end of each session. Please make sure your swimmer checks with a team manager or coach to see if they have reached the final for their age group!

Finally this will be the first time that Burnley will live stream one of their galas! This is a fantastic addition to the gala as you will be able to watch the racing back as well as sharing the link with family and friends who may not be able to attend the gala and they will be able to watch all the swimming live. As mentioned above I have attached the gala brief below which has more information about all the gala in general and the live stream.

As always if you have any questions please email meets@wiganswimmingclub.org.uk
