The Championship was split up over three weekends starting back in March with the Youth swimmers (15 and over).

The first weekend proved to be very tough racing for all the swimmers for many different. Some of the swimmers had been feeling under the weather, others had work commitments and many of themĀ  were and still are in the middle of revising and sitting different exams. This all being said at the end of the first weekend we had alot of happy swimmers because many had PB’d for the first time in a while, swimmers began to feel more comfortable in their racing again and we had a number of swimmers who made finals and even won medals at Regional Level.

Well done and congratulations to the following swimmers who made finals and won medals:

  • Eve Horton = Bronze
  • Isabel Lloyd = Bronze
  • Isobel Liptrot = Bronze
  • Ella Wadsworth
  • Hannah Lee
  • Leila Morris

After nearly a month between racing weekend 2 arrived at the end of April and this was the first of two weekends for the Age Group swimmers (14 and under) with the final weekend taking place in mid May.

These two weekends were extremely hot, busy, and very very long! The conditions would have been challenging for even the most experienced swimmer but all of our young guns performed amazingly well.

Just like our Youth swimmers the older age range of the Age group swimmers were also chasing National qualification spots and this added a lot of pressure to the older swimmers. On the other end of the scale a lot of the younger swimmers had never raced in a 50 metre pool before and again all performed brilliantly.

We would like to congratulate the following swimmers on making finals and winning medals:

  • Evie Cutter = GOLD x 3 , SILVER x 1, BRONZE x 5
  • Olivia Knox = GOLD x 1 , BRONZE x 3
  • Ellen Jones = GOLD x 1 , BRONZE x 1
  • Jorja Howard = GOLD x 1
  • Cain Ashton = SILVER x 1
  • Alice Holt = Bronze x 1
  • Camilla Holland
  • Betsy Lloyd
  • Layla Dolan
  • Max Pearson

A massive congratulations also goes to our Gold medal winners who become North West Regional champions.

There was also a number of relay team events that took place. These teams were aiming to achieve a time that would place them in the top 30 positions in the UK and that would earn them an invite to the British National event in July.

Alice Holt, Evie Cutter, Hannah Lee, Isabel Lloyd, and Isobel Liptrot were all selected for teams within the relay competitions. There was some really exciting racing within the team events with the crowd in the pool hall making plenty of noise. British swimming has now released the lists of the top 30 times in each relay event and we are pleased to say a number of the relay teams have been invited to this years British Nationals event.

It was great to see a large number of club members and parents helping out over the three weekends whether that be as an official or volunteering thank you to you all for your continuing support.

Overall the North West Regionals just as every gala has had its ups and downs for each and every swimmer! The great thing though is seeing them dust themselves down when something has not gone quite right and giving it there best next time round. All the swimmers are a credit to their swim teams, families and most importantly themselves!!!!
