Hi everyone,

From Monday 19th July, Swim England will be taking down its Covid guidance as social distancing requirements will be removed.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed the UK will move into Step Four of the roadmap out of lockdown – signalling the end of the vast majority of legal Covid regulations.

For us as a club this means we no longer need to have a gap between sessions and can begin to return to full session times. We are still asking that swimmers remain in their groups when placing their bags on the poolside to avoid too much mixing as cases are still high in our area. I would also request that swimmers do not arrive early for sessions and wait with their bags until they are called over by the coaches, allowing the previous sessions swimmers to exit the pool safely. Please can all swimmers now return to getting dressed/undressed inside of the changing rooms and not on the poolside to limit mixing out of the water.

Im sure we are all excited that restrictions are beginning to be eased, however, we are asking everyone to exercise caution and be considerate of everyone around us. We also still need to adhere to the Wigan Life Centres requirements which are remaining in place for the time being:

  • Wear masks in the required areas of our leisure centres
  • Use the one-way systems in place
  • Attend ready to train where possible. At this stage no hairdryers are available.
